Missions were added to Exodus 3000 around December, 2007, with many more added in 2008. There are almost 100 missions available (counting the hidden missions). To start a mission you must first find it through either landing on a plain, crater, ruins, dunes, settlement, or a homestead. Once you find a mission it will be saved under the missions tab. You must activate a mission by clicking "activate" in the missions area, in order to be able to complete it.

Each mission will give you experience points based on the difficulty of finding and completing the mission.

Experience points are gained from completing various missions. Experience Points can be used for a discount of ten or twenty percent on all purchases of moves, radar upgrades, and homestead moves. Experience points also make it easier to find rare missions.

You can also get a prize for completing a mission in anytime moves, various cards, etc, although some will give you nothing. Each mission requires various tasks to be done or items to be traded, in order to complete.

Most missions only require you to go to an outpost to drop off items, others require you to find out specific coordinates of the map and trade items there. Missions must be done in a series and you cannot skip to another mission without completing the prior one to it(with the exception of the Delivery Boy Series). Usually this is covered in the description of the mission.

There are also hidden missions in the game, found the same way as regular missions. No info is available on how to complete them at this time.

Mission Text: As you crest the crater rim, you see the AREV of the well known smuggler and miscreant tacovendor. He tells you about a great deal to be had at the Tharsis outpost (91N,171E). You can sell 1 level of Weapons for 1000 anytime moves

Mission Text: You have stumbled across one of the great legends of the Martian dunes, the Flying AREV. Your adventures inside are nothing but a blurry and indistinct memory when you awaken hours later, but you know that if you can only manage to array 100 Homestead Assaults against the vault that you know to be hidden at 38S, 48E great treasures await you.

Mission Location: Outpost

Mission Text: You overhear the owner of the Outpost mention that there have been some scattered reports of strange crystals that have been found growing in some of the nearby ruins. It's not known exactly what they do, but the seem to resonate at a specific frequency. Some prospectors who have encountered them have reported odd negative fluctuations in their weapons and defense systems. ((The drain to complete the mission is a temporary effect))

Notes: Once activated a PM is sent to player's account with location of timewarp co-ordinates, these can be kept to oneself but are more commonly shared on the chat system.

Aura CleansingEdit

Mission Location: Ruins

Mission Text: Inscribed on the wall of the ruin you find a small piece of smoky crystal and a series of glyphs that show how to direct power from your defenses through the time crystal to purge your aura of the mark usage of a time crystal leaves. You just need to find a crossover patch at an outpost to do it. ((This mission will cause a temporary loss of defense))

Mission Text: An upper level executive with Central Trading has been kidnapped by disgruntled settlers. Find 100 Rainbow Stars to free him and collect the 10,000 MD reward for his release. Collect your reward at any outpost.

Mission Text: While perusing the wares in this Outpost you overhear a conversation between an old settler and the proprietor of the shop. The old man mentions that he was out in the dunes of Margaritifer Terra and stumbled across this old pile of rusty scrap metal, half buried in the fines. There was something shiny in there, but it made a weird humming noise when he approached so he took off. Armed with the knowledge of a rough location for the relic you quietly slip from the shop, heading for your AREV.

From his description you know you will need to boost your strength to free the relic (1 Force Card to be given away, not actually activated).

The relic is in Dunes of Margaritifer Terra. Alien Relic provides temporary major stats boost.

Mission Text: As you crest the dune, you see a broken down AREV in the lee. The prospector who owns it is stomping about, swearing on the common communication band. When you greet him he offers to sell you his homestead for enough to set himself up permanently with Central Trading and just get out of the whole prospecting business. After a bit of negotiation, Central Trading agrees to broker the trade for 250,000 MD, and allow you to use the new space as a store to sell items to other prospectors. Just stop by any settlement and sign the paperwork when you're ready to close the deal.

To buy into this investment travel to the settlement at 1N, 1W and donate 100 units of fuel (anytime moves) to the enterprise to get it started.

Mission Text: The Mars Federation is attempting to bolster their hold on the orbital recovery industry. In order to refine their coordinates they need four delicate transponders placed at the corners of the power grid. Pick up the transponders at headquarters (11N,40W), but you'll need to have access to the train to do it right.

Mission Text: What with the rampant exchanging of Stars for fuel and the burgeoning population of Mars, the decentralized fueling depots are starting to run low. Central Trading is looking for a few intrepid prospectors who would be willing to help refuel the planet.

Each depot you hit will earn you a 1000 MD Card. If you get all of them, you will earn a bonus of 2 Upgrade Cards and 3 Force Cards.

If you want to take up the challenge you can make the first delivery to the outpost at 147N, 156W in Elysium Planitia.

Note: Please note the requirement of 2500 moves required per depot for completion.

Mission Text: Reports of a strange illness have been cropping up in various settlements all over Mars. We need you to collect some samples from the victims so we can determine the level of danger we can expect from this. Start out by heading to HQ to pick up the sampling equipment. You'll receive further instructions there.

Mission Text: Here is your sample kit. You'll need to hit a settlement in each quadrant and collect a sample from one of the victims. It appears that the illness is spreading fairly quickly, so you shouldn't mope around. The most recent outbreak has occured nearby at 6N, 79W. Head there first. As you about to leave, the tech adds, "You might want to leave your enviro suit on in the settlements until we figure out what's going on."

Mission Location: Settlement

Mission Text: This settlement has definately seen better days. You see very few people moving around, and the normally bustling market is silent. Asking the few people you encounter, they introduce you to a recent victim. The girl is around 16, and dangerously thin and weak. Ruddy blisters and boils seeping a viscous rust red ooze cover her skin, and her hair is falling out in clumps.

You pull out the sample kit and collect blood, pus and stool from her. You radio into HQ and they tell you to head down to the SW quadrant next. The first reported outbreak took place in the settlement at 373S, 473W.

Mission Location: Settlement

Mission Text: Upon your arrival in this desolate community, it is readily apparent that this one is far worse than any of the other settlements you have visited since this catastrophe started. After fifteen minutes of searching, you are almost convinced that there is no one left alive to get a sample from. You note that once a victim has died, the corpse appears to rapidly dessicate. The exact timetable is unknown, but you can tell that after awhile, the body simply crumbles into dust indistinguishable from the Martian sands.

As you are preparing the leave this ghost town of a settlement, you hear a faint, gasping cry for help. Searching a nearby guardhouse, you find an old man. He is covered with the characteristic boils and sores of the Red Death. As you bend down to take samples from him before he dries out too much, he whispers to you, barely audible through the insulating fabric of your suit, "The stars. It's the stars. Old Fly was the first to get it and he had just taken a bunch of stars from some prospector. The 'spector said that he had just been through one of them warp things and used some machine to upgrade all his stars. Those martians must have poisoned the stars." With a final shudder he falls back and expires.

After you radio this news into HQ they congratulate you on the discovery and report that there is a settlement at 353S, 439E that is reporting that some of their citizenry is apparently immune to the plague. You are instructed to get one last sample from one of those with immunity before you head back to HQ.

Mission Location: Settlement

Mission Text: The first thing you notice as you approach the settlement is a pile of crumbling bodies outside the airlock. Once inside, you are immediately escorted to see the local magistrate. He tells you that he agrees with the idea that the Plague was initially starborne, however it is obviously airborne now. He doesn't know why so many people in the settlement are immune, but he invites you to take as many samples as you would like to help come up with a solution.

Your samples gathered, you exit the settlement and set your heading for HQ.

Mission Text: Our researchers think they have a found a solution. It will be a two step process. The first is that you will need to disable the star converters in the ancient Martian city that are causing the disease. Head back to HQ to get the decontamination device.

Mission Location: Homestead

Mission Text: According the the reports we've been receiving there are three star converters in the Martian city through the timewarps that are causing this plague. You need to clean these up. Unfortunately we only know where one of them is.

Our evidence indicates that the Martians were destroyed by a similar plague, caused in much the same way. We believe that the last of the Martians marked those machines that were still causing the problem. Unfortunately they didn't do this until after the time period that the Warps open too.

This means that you will need to find the ruins that correspond to that particular city in the present before you can find the other diseased machines.

Contact us after you have purged the first machine, and we will refresh you.

Notes: The Timewarp is the location of the first machine. You'll have to either open one yourself or use one someone else has opened.

Mission Text: Having fixed the first machine, you radio back to HQ. They tell you that they believe the ruins you need to find to be able to identify which machine to work on next are between 165 and 180 North and 260 and 300 West.

Mission Text: It takes quite awhile and a lot of shoveling to uncover the marked machine, but you preserver and finally find it. Noting the surrounding landmarks, you prepare to return to the Martian city.

Mission Requirements: Locate the last machine

Mission Location: Timewarp

Mission Text: Knowing the landmarks to look for, you easily find the second machine and run it through the decontamination process. Once it's complete, you head back out of the warp and contact HQ. They congratulate you on what you've accomplished so far and say that they have pinned down the last set of ruins to somewhere near between the middle and lower left corner of Terra Cimmeria.

Just look for a mark similar to the one you found before.

Mission Text: You find and decontaminate the third machine. As you exit the warp, your radio crackles and HQ bursts through the static, "Come in, come in". You respond and they tell you that even with no new contamination being introduced, the plague is rapidly spreading. "We have created a serum that should combat the plague, but we don't have enough people to distribute it. Return to HQ and we'll give you some serum samples to deliver."

The sores on her face are already starting to recede, and she hardly coughs at all while she is talking to you. Shyly she offers up a small card and says, "This was my father's. He was a prospector like you, and this is all that was left to me when the Plague took him. Please take it. It would mean so much to me." She smiles at you beautifically as you take the Assault card, and runs off to join the survivors of her family.

They have automated samplers on numerous obelisks around Mars, and whenever you've collected 5 units bring them in their original cases, bring them here.
