The fifteenth weapon upgrade available from an outpost. The gauss rifle is also often referred to as a coil gun or gauss gun/cannon. It is a type of magnetic accelerator gun/cannon. A series of electromagnetic coils are used in its casing to accelerate a magnetic shell to very high velocities, forcing a deadly impact with any targetted enemy.
