The craters that dot the surface of Mars exceed those of earth in both frequency and magnitude. This is due to the lack of an active hydrosphere on Mars. The increased traffic of the refugees from Earth has been shown to be wearing on these craters that have lain undisturbed for centuries.

Many Aerologists have predicted that the majority of the smaller craters and some of the more populous large ones will begin to disappear completely over the course of the next fifty years or so. The impact this erosion will have on the environment of our new home is uncertain at this time.

Craters outside of the 400 coordinates now have an "Explore" feature which allows a player to search for Exploration Cards. There are 100 different numbered Exploration Cards to collect. When a player collects all 100, they may redeem the cards for a prize.
